Band 8+: Many people believe it is a good thing to have competition in daily life, at school and at work. While others argue that cooperation would benefit more. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Many people believe that competition can motivate people to succeed, while cooperation helps people work together effectively. This essay will examine both perspectives before presenting my own opinion. From my perspective, cooperation is more beneficial in most situations.

On the one hand, there are several notable reasons why some people think that they should compete at work and at school. First, one of the primary reasons for competition is the improvement in their performance and achievements. This is because many students try to study harder, which means that they can get better academic performance. Another obvious benefit of competition is that it creates a competitive environment among classmates, which may increase motivation and productivity; also, they may gain essential knowledge and practical skills from their friends. This is mainly because people focus on working and studying without any distraction. In addition, competition also creates a positive and supportive environment in the workplace or at school, which leads to a desirable job and a high-quality school. For example, in many schools, students try to study harder to get higher grades than their classmates.

On the other hand, many young adults believe that cooperation is much more important than competition. Firstly, cooperation helps people solve problems effectively. There are many difficult tasks such as presentations and data analysis that require people to cooperate to address. In teamwork or group work, they have opportunities to share their ideas or skills, which helps solve problems more effectively. Also, people have chances to communicate with teammates, which can help them to make more friends and enhance their relationships. Therefore, they can develop essential skills such as communication skills and responsibility. For instance, in the workplace, teamwork helps companies complete complex tasks efficiently, and at schools, group projects help students learn from each other.

In conclusion, while competition may offer long-term advantages, cooperation is more beneficial for people because it promotes teamwork, shares knowledge and sustainable success.
