Family members, particularly parents, are the people who live with children on a daily basis at home. Therefore, parents play the most significant role because they are primarily responsible for preparing meals. Since young children often lack basic knowledge of nutrition, they are unlikely to make informed dietary choices on their own, which further highlights the importance of parental guidance.
Teachers also play a vital role in shaping children’s eating habits through structured education on nutrition and healthy lifestyles. Compared to parents, teachers are often better equipped to provide systematic knowledge about nutrition, diseases, and vitamins. As a result, the role of teachers in influencing children’s dietary habits is also crucial.
From my perspective, a one-sided approach is insufficient when it comes to developing children’s eating habits. For instance, if a child learns at school that vegetables are healthy but is only exposed to junk food such as chips at home, this inconsistency may lead to confusion and unhealthy dietary choices. This highlights why both parents and teachers should actively guide children and educate them about healthy lifestyles.
