Some believe that only government and large companies are able to improve the environment since citizens could only do little. I strongly disagree with this statement due to efficiency and sustainability.
To begin with, while letting the authorities or companies be the one maintaining the environment could be beneficials, making it everyone’s responsibility could offer more efficiency. That is to say, if everyone bears the responsibility of keeping the environment well-kept, not only could it require more effort, it would also cost less money. Furthermore, by sharing this responsibility for every individual, everybody would work together to improve the environment, resulting in less money and effort required. For example, if only government bear the weight to create a better environment, they would need more money and manpower since they ought to do it their selves.
In addition, long-lasting environmental well-being also play an important key of why environment need to be look out by every individual. This is because citizens will take care of the environment without needing to only rely to the authorities. Moreover, government constantly would be replaced in some period of time, which result in the frequent change of regulation. For instance, Singaporean ruler prefers to instil sense of belonging to their citizens, rather than taking care of the environment their selves, leading to Singapore be one of top 5 country with the most breathtaking environment.
In conclusion, efficiency as well as sustainability are the main reasons why the improvement of the environment should be taken care by not only one party but everyone. If possible, I suggest that government should make a campaign about the important of environment to their citizens in order to make their people possess sense of belonging of their surroundings.
