Some people believe that traditional games are better than modern games in term of helping children develop their abilities. In my opinion, both types of games are essential for a child’s development to take place, depend on which side you look at the issue from.
Traditional games, such as “hide and seek”, board games, fly a kite, contribute significantly to children’s physical, social, and cognitive development. These games offer group participation, which helps children to improve communication, teamwork. Furthermore, they encourage outdoor activities, reducing screen time so that children’s overall health will be better. Moreover, traditional games are often rooted in culture, helping children to connect with their heritage and learn valuable knowledge through the games.
On the other hand, modern games, usually digital and video games, bring numerous cognitive and educational advantages. Many well-designed games improve logical reasoning and creativity as puzzle-based games. However, excessive exposure to digital games may lead to negative consequences, such as low physical activity and social isolation.
In conclusion, both traditional and modern games contribute to children’s development in different ways. While traditional games enhance physical and social skills, modern games can improve cognitive abilities and logical thinking. So, we need a balanced approach, incorporating both types of games to maximize children’s development.
