Band 5+: Many people believe that social media has a negative impact on young people's mental health. Others think it has beneficial effects. Discuss both views and give your own opinion

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In recent years, network system is garnering significant attention among people. Proponents of social media assert the benefits of it, while others emphasise the drawbacks of internet. I contend that the merits of global net is more than its downsides.

On the one hand, advocate for social media display its advantages. Firstly, internet plays a vital role in daily tasks. In the past, people faced several difficulties such as, talking with people who lived far from each other, finding the proper information and others. In contrast, today individuals can easily connect with each other, can find important information, which means they are not encountering problems related to media. Since the improvement of network, students are capable of learning subjects more efficiently. For example, the people who live in a rural area cannot always study in a good condition and even some of them cannot find well-educated teachers, in these kinds of situations, children can find other teachers who are good at teaching. It means these children can buy online courses and improve their learning skills.

On the other hand, others see social media as a counterproductive thing and emphasise its drawbacks. Sometimes students might be interrupted during their study time because of internet. In the light of this, others believe that network is time-consuming, especially for learners. Moreover, some young individuals do not understand the threats of internet which means they may face many problems when they use social media. A lionʼs share of users cannot hide their personal information and even they can give other details to strangers. As a result, the rate of cybercrime will increase and because of this a lot of people might be suffered. Even some researchers indicated that some people suicided themselves due to the problems which were happened in the internet. This shows the negative effect of network for peopleʼs mental health.

In my opinion, the benefits of internet outweigh its drawbacks. Since they offer more opportunities for studying, learning, and for daily needs. In addition, individuals can get motivation from famous or successful people through the internet and they can learn how to be disciplined by seeing them.

Overall, substantial advantages of internet is more than its downsides. Since we live in conscious society we can control ourselves from spending our time or from being a victim. Therefore, using the network system wisely can be the best option for individuals.
