Most people think that doing volunteer work for the community is vital for personal growth. I believe it can teach people to be selfless, also gives them a purpose other than focusing on their personal life. By being an active member in the community, they can build friendships as well as lending a helping hand. Moreover setting examples for childern. I agree with all the advantages and personal developments as people become volunteers.
Firstly, when people choose to dedicate their time and energy for a greater cause, it will teach them how to be selfless. This is a valuable lesson the can’t be taught in school. Most people are burried their heads into their phones and don’t see an elderly who needs help crossing the street but now as they become a volunteer, they learn to pay attention to their community and its needs.
Secondly, by being a volunteer, they can form a strong bond and friendship with people who are living next to them. This bond with lead to more social interactions and communications. poeple with different ages can become a member and find someone to collaburate with. For instance, men can do the heavy liftings, women can help providing food or medicine and children can paint park’s walls and help making their area more appealing.
Finally, if someone becomes a volunteer, they will set an example for children. Children could help with small tasks but also they will understand that just because they are young, it does not mean they are not capable of helping. So, it will build their personality and teach them how to be useful at a young age. For example by donating their toys or clothes they can bring smile to another child.
To sum up, I believe being a volunteer has a lot of benefits in terms of personal growth. A lot of lessons can be learned by doing volunteer works. Like having a strong connection between members of community, involving peolpe from different ages to teach selfnessness and sense of purpose.
