Whether attending a live event or watching it on television provides a more exhilarating and satisfying experience remains a constant debate. In my opinion, although watching performances on TV has some positive aspects, going to live events is undoubtedly a better option as it offers attendees a sense of involvement and a more immersive experience.
Those in favor of enjoying the same events on television might justify their preference by the convenience and economical nature of this practice. However, despite the convenience and low cost, it may fail to provide individuals with a truly enjoyable watching experience. This is mainly due to the process of cutting and editing several scenes prior to the broadcast of the performances, which aims to highlight only the most impressive parts to attract viewers’ attention. As a result, people hardly get a comprehensive view of the events, which consequently undermines their enthusiasm and joy. This is a prevalent case for sports lovers around the world. During prominent sports events like the Olympics or World Cup, a majority of worldwide fans can only enjoy the games at home on television, which can sometimes be annoying due to the integration of sound and picture effects or commentary.
On the other hand, watching a live performance is often preferred for several reasons. First, attendees can blend into the enthusiastic atmosphere at a live event, which may boost their spirits as well as give them a sense of participation. This can be attributed to several factors, including the crowd, the decorations, the light and sound, etc. These details can add up to a much more immersive experience for participants, which is hardly attainable by watching the same performance on television. Furthermore, going to a live event can offer people a direct connection with the performers, which can contribute to a far more memorable experience. The Eras Tour of the world-renowned artist Taylor Swift is a case in point. Although there is a movie simulating her real concerts, reports from fans reveal that watching the singer in person on the stage is one of the most special features of attending her live performances.
In conclusion, while certain advantages of watching events on television, such as its flexibility and low cost, cannot be overlooked, I firmly advocate attending live performances for a more immersive and unforgettable experience.
