Many people claim that traveling into space is using governments’ money ineffectively, while others believe it is important for humankind to advance. In this essay, I will discuss both sides of the argument and explain my support for why it is important to invest in space for brighter future.
One reason why governments should not spend money on space-related subjects is there might be other problems to solve in the related nations. Nobody will care about space if they can not feed themselves, however, from the government’s perspective, this is not the case all the time. For instance, the administration of India is keeping their investments about space, but they do not improve the quality of life for their citizens. Furthermore, the problems are not limited to social ones, one other problem is in defense-related issues. To live in a safe place where our loved ones deserve, a decent amount of the budget must be spent on defensive technologies. For example, although Taiwan has border problems with China, their government is still doing research in space travel, and this will not help them when China comes to their border.
Nevertheless, the milestones in humankind’s history happened by taking bigger goals than our imaginations, like space. And if somebody looks at the last century’s innovations, they will most likely see crucial technological jumps are fruits of our domination desire about space in the Cold War times. For instance, rocket developments, creating computer programming languages, and allocating funds for universities to beat the other side are examples of why it is important to invest in space. Besides the technological part, as humans always want more from life, and exploring is writing our genetics, it is hard to tell a young boy or girl space is a place that you could not reach. Even with the insufficient technology, people went to the Moon.
In conclusion, although governments have social and defense-related problems to solve, it is important to not forget that studying space gives people better devices than before and hope for the future.
