Many people argue that working from home provides them better productivity than working in an office or a shared workspace. Although working at home alone provides several benefits, my personal opinion is that the drawbacks outweigh the advantages.
One of the positive aspects of working remotely is that you can have a quiet and peaceful workspace rather than a crowded one. For instance, most offices can be overly crowded or very noisy making it hard for workers to work or focus on their task.In contrast, if people work at home they can have a more peaceful and quiet environment which can lead to a better concentration for their daily work or task. Moreover, working from home can save time that we spend on traveling. For example, workers do not have to spend hours or stress about traffic jams.
On the other side of the coin, working from home can also have many drawbacks. A major issue that we should look at is the lack of social interaction. Without regular contact or communication workers can feel very lonely. For example, they might miss the informal communication with their colleagues on breaks or meetings which can make them feel very disconnected and less engaged in their work. Another down side of working from home is that people can easily get distracted by house chores, children, family and many more. In addition, personal activity such as watching TV or social media can also be very distracting.
In conclusion, while working at home offers a better workspace environment and save more time on traveling, it can also lead to several downsides such as feeling isolated and disconnected from their colleagues and it can also be a distraction for you.
