Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

With the increasing prevalence of digital reading devices, the long-standing preference for paper books faces a formidable challenge, leading us to explore the implications of this literary evolution. In the contemporary era, a significant number of people choose digital books instead of traditional books. There might be some meaningful merits, such as portability and search functionality, but screen fatigue and distractions might be a few drawbacks that could not be neglected.

To commence with, there might plethora advantageous aspects of digital readings. First and foremost, E-books might easy to carry around. In other words, online books seems lightweight and stored on digital devices, allowing readers to access a vast library without the physical burden of carrying multiple paper books. To illustrate, “The Helsinki International School” in Finland has somewhat adopted e-books, which allows students to access their learning materials on tablets, potentially reducing the need to carry heavy books and making it a bit easier for them to manage their schoolwork and study on the go.

Additionally, e-books often come with search features. To put it simply, readers might not need to spend a lot of time searching for a specific topic; they can simply use the search option to find what they need quickly. On the other hand, some negative impacts might also associated with online reading. The most prominent one is, it might significantly increase screen fatigue. What I mean by this statement is that using a screen for extended periods could lead to eye strain and fatigue, which may feel uncomfortable.

Moreover, people could easily distract while using electronic device for reading. What is more, when they might got any other apps notifications it makes harder to ficus on the material. To epitomize, if someone is reading an e-book on their phone during a commute and they get a notification about a new video or a message from a friend, they might feel tempted to watch the video or reply to the message. This distraction can break their concentration and make it difficult to fully engage with the reading material.

Conclusively, while e-books may offer conveniences, it is crucial to recognize that the distractions might significantly undermine the reading experience. Therefore, readers must actively seek ways to minimize these distractions to fully engage with their digital reading.
