Nowadays, many people prefer to live in small apartments, and this trend is growing up day by day. In my opinion, this situation has both positive and negative sides.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why living in small flats is popular. First of all, small apartments are much cheaper than big houses. Because of this, young people and students can easily afford them. Moreover, utility bills like electricity and water are lower because the space is small. Another good point is that these flats are usually located in the city center. It means people can easily go to work or university without spending too much time on transportation. Finally, cleaning a small flat takes very little time.
On the other hand, living in a small place also brings some problems. The biggest issue is the lack of space. When people live in a congested flat for a long time, they can feel stressed or depressed. Also, it is very difficult if someone has a big family or children because there is no place for kids to play. Furthermore, most apartments do not have a private garden or balcony, so residents cannot spend time outdoors easily.
In conclusion, living in small flats has benefits like low cost and good location, but it also has disadvantages such as limited space and lack of freedom. I think the benefits are more important for single people, but families need larger houses.
