Band 5+: Many people prefer to use public transportation while others say that personal cars are the best mode of transportation. Excessive use of private cars is considered to be the main reason for the traffic jam in many cities and that's why the use of public transportation is encouraged. In your opinion what are the pros and cons of using public transport?

Nowadays, many people prefer to use public transportation while others are using their private cars which are considered as a main cause of the traffic jam. Especially, when the majority of the people are going place to place, more cars are used, and that is why more air pollution is created by a big traffic jam in several cities. However, not all of the population can handle the difficulties using the public transportation. In this essay, I will discuss the benefits of using public transport: how it is getting increasingly popular and why some of the people still prefer to use their personal cars.

The most important advantage is that it can decrease the amount of the air pollution which is caused by vehicles such as cars or motorcycles. For example, in Japan, we can rarely see the motorcycles on the road. Japanese people always use the trains and the buses to get to their work places; therefore, the air pollution, a major reason of global warming, is getting lower in Japan. What I mean by this is that we should be more aware of the air pollution and reduce the chance of the global warming by using more of the public transport. The air pollution can be less by stopping using our private transportation.

On the other hand, some people still do not choose to use the public transport. The major problems are it is uncomfortable and crowded on some of the public transportations. In Thailand, there are many buses on the road causing a loud noise. Moreover, the buses are very crowded; tons of people are on the buses, eating and throwing trashes on the bus. By the time, the buses get older and older so do the seats and the fans. Some of the seats are broken, so we can barely sit comfortably because in summer, the sun is burning outside while the fans are broken.

In conclusion, there are both positive and drawback to use the public transportation. You need to weigh up the pros: air quality and the cons: uncomfortable and crowded buses, deciding whether to use the public transports or your personal vehicles. In my opinion, you can choose both by deliberating the place and time, so we can save the world and easily handle the disadvantages.
