In today’s world, cheap air travel is becoming increasingly popular with ordinary people, as they can now afford to pay less for flights, allowing them to travel freely to many destinations. However, this growing demand for air travel has risen, this could lead to environmental problems, some people think flight tickets should be more expensive to reduce air pollution. This essay will discuss both sides of the argument and decide which one is better.
Supporters of low-cost flights claim that they give ordinary people more opportunities to travel anywhere in the world without worrying about budget. In the past, air travel was a luxury thing that only the wealthy could afford, but nowadays, many airlines adjusted the costs of the flight, making it easier for students, workers, and low-income families to pay for flight tickets. This benefit leads to increase in tourism and economic growth.
On the other hand, others argue that low-cost flights may have a critical impact on environment such as air pollution. Airplanes release large amounts of carbon dioxide, contributing to global warming and pollution. Their solution for this issue is to increase the ticket price, reducing demand on unnecessary travel. Furthermore, cheap flights also lead to over-tourism, which puts pressure on local communities and natural resources.
To sum up, although cheap air travel creates some negative effects on the environment, it provides significant social and economic benefits by making travel more inclusive. In my perspective, instead of making more expensive on flight tickets, government and airlines should focus on making limitation on the number of flights, or developing on eco technology to make flying more sustainable.
