The notion that applying for jobs is a contenious one, evoking divergent opinions among people. While some argue that interviews are the best method to evaluate the suitability of a candidate for a position, other content that not all jobs need to have interviews. I firmly agree with this idea in this essay, I will provide my opinion with detailed explanations.
On the one hand, the idea of interviewing applicants is beneficial to some extent. Firstly, it is supported by the arguement that holding interviews is quick and easy to conduct. Most people spend 30 to 45 minutes answering the questions which the employers ask for. Through the examinees’s answers, they can easily choose a suitable person for their companies. For example, some recruiters have their own decisive questions for the candidates. Therefore, if the candidates answer these questions perfectly, they can get a place in their companies. This process takes only a little time for both employers and examinees. This leads to being convenient and not wasteful for them. Moreover, another point to consider is that the recruiters can see their appearances, which are extremely crucial criteria to assess. In the interviews, they observe all of them and inspect their looks, because they express their attitudes, characters, and manners. These are evaluated to be suitable for the company’s culture.
On the other hand, there are some convincing arguments that interviews are not the overall assessment of the candidates. This might be explained that during the interviewing time, they can lie about some fields or experinces. Many people have lied at least once time. Therefore, when the recruiters demand their past experiences on projects and teamwork, they can smoothly lie about these questions. This leads to not having a correct assessment of them. The employers get impression of the outstanding person at first, but when they work, that impression may depend on the way they work and cooperate with their colleagues. In addition, another compelling argument is that just judging through the interviews may not be right in some jobs, such as IT and engineering. These jobs cannot easily be done after answering the questions. They may evaluate by combining the interviews with practical practices, leading to more efficiency. For instance, regarding these positions, the best way to rate is by doing tests, such as programming tests, solving technical problems, and working with other examinees.
In conclusion, despite the merits of opposing viewpoints, the evidence presented supports the assertion that recruiters should combine the interviews with other tests to have more correct and overall results to have more suitable employees for their companies, who may bring more creative and innovative methods and profits for them in the future.
