Band 7+: Many students are now refusing to choose science subjects at their university level. Why do you think this is happening and what is the impact on the community?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, it is not uncommon to see students avoiding choosing science subjects at the university level. While there are several reasons for this, the situation can have far-reaching effects on people and society as a whole.

One of the main reasons why students avoid choosing science subjects is the difficulty of these courses. That is to say, most science subjects such as math, physics, and chemistry require assignments that demand a lot of time and patience. As a result, this leads students to avoid these subjects. Another contributing factor is the long study duration. That means science majors typically require many years of study, which does not suit students who want to start earning money quickly. For example, programs such as medicine and engineering usually last five to seven years.

However, these changes have an important impact on the community. The local economy is significantly affected by this trend. If students do not learn science subjects, this results in a decrease in qualified professionals in many areas, including but not limited to medicine, transport, and electronics. This may weaken the local economy. Moreover, this change has a significant effect on the healthcare system. A shortage of medical professionals means that more people may suffer from illness. Hospitals may also become overcrowded, which leads to longer waiting times and poorer service quality.

In conclusion, the main reasons why students are refusing to choose science subjects are the difficult subjects and long study duration. This decision has a crucial effect on the local economy and healthcare.
