In this modern world, studying abroad is becoming popular trend for many students. It is, however, debatable if studying in foreign countries is advantageous or not. In this essay, I will discuss both advantages and disadvantages and give my own opinion.
On the one hand, studying overseas gives students several great benefits. Firstly, students can approach a better learning and teaching environment. Schools will provide the best qualified lectures and professors, update curriculum and cutting-edge learning for their academic studies. Additionally, students can interact with others from all over the world and know more about their culture. This can lead to a more well-rounded education and a deeper understanding of the world. Secondly, it makes students become independent. Being away from parents’ support, they manage their finances by working part-time to pay bills or tuition fees, and they are also responsible for buying groceries, washing laundry, cooking meals.
On the other hand, studying abroad can also cause students serious drawbacks. To begin with, learners may experience cultural shock. Adapting to new living environment and culture can lead them to be overwhelmed like not used to eating the foreign food. Moreover, they will feel homesick and miss their families. Another drawback is that students face up to language barriers. If they are not fluent in language, they will be hard to communicate with foreign people and sometimes lead to misunderstanding. As a result, students canhesitate to interact with people, which affects their mental. In conclusion, studying overseas can be both advantageous by better learning experience, boosting independence and disadvantageous by cultural shock, language barriers. In my opinion, its advantages far outweigh its disadvantages.
