Some would argue that smartphones are not good for teenagers, while others would say that they can provide some benefit. While gadgets can improve young people’s knowledge in various fields because of numerious information on the Internet, I believe that they result in young people becomming unsocial and they become addicted to social networks.
The main advantage to have an iPhone when a person is young, is that it develops adolescents’ knowledge in different areas and improves their understanding of the world through social networks. They can communicate with people from any country of the planet and learn other nations culture. Moreover, teenagers have an access to any information over the world. This enables them to imporove any skills or competences. For example, Kazakhstan adolescents can chat to American people or just watch some videos on Youtube from foreigners, I believe that this encourages young people to stay detached from society which can lead to antisocial lifestyle.
Spending time online on phone for extended periods of time means that teenagers communicate with each other very little. This leades to a small number of friends and poor social skills. Furthermore, algorithms in social networks provide people very interactive and amusement content which forces adolescents to stay online more and more time. It can be the reason of gadget addiction. For example, Meta released statistics last year which says that young people spending 3 hours a day on Instagram. It shows how much time can teenagers spend on books, self-improvement or playing outside with friends. I believe that this makes overconsumption of smartphones dangerous and they should only be used in moderation.
In conclusion, although gadgets can help adolescents improve their mental skills, they also prevent them from reading enough books or spending time outside and they should therefore only be used sparingly.
