It is true that the studying and emotional development of a student can be impacted by many things and peers is one of important reasons rather than teachers. I completely agree with this perspective.
Obviously, teachers play a crucial presence in navigating students’ insight. They directly provide formal instructions based on strengths and weaknesses. This helps learners develop all essential skills and avoid getting into unhealthy habits. That being said, if there are not any companions, they will struggle with long-term studying. Each person has at least two friends who are willing to support in study work and accompany in all aspects of life. Additionally, some childhood friends, who understand the comprehensive situation clearly, easily influence each other. While peers have a powerful advantage on the well-being and academic performance of a student, they still bring detrimental downside.
On the one hand, some trustworthy friends help students study more effectively and improve communication skills. Without a doubt, working in a group is better than only one. Especially through discussion, learners not only freely share ideas and gain another perspective, which boosts critical thinking. This creates a strong sense of community and enhances people’s ability to achieve the best learning outcomes. On the other hand, toxic friends can take advantage of others for their own benefits. If students are exposed to those consistently, they will get easily distracted by harmful actions. In some cases, they even drop out of school and commit crimes, which may spread negative behaviour among the young generation. Consequently, these activities lead to a disordered society.
In conclusion, I believe that peers have a more long-lasting effect on both academic performance and emotional growth. However, students should choose friends carefully and solve adverse influences wisely.
