Band 7+: Many today feel that attention spans are becoming shorter due to the prevalence of social media. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The majority of people suggest that using social media can lead to losing attention for a long period of time. However, in my opinion, social media helps individuals show their own abilities through networks, as well as aid in collaboration.

Despite the fact that social media tends to lose each individual’s attention, it helps to show individuals’s own abilities through TikTok and Instagram. It is obviously true that everyone has their own ability, and some people are good at singing, whereas others are into dancing. For this, those platforms help each person. If individuals post their own videos on social media, they will have a chance to show their emotions, talents, and ideas, which tend to increase their self-confidence in front of many people as well. In the modern world, for example, utilizing different hashtags on the internet is a massive trend among adolescents, which helps boost the number of viewers, and gathered comments help to exchange people’s ideas with another human being.

Additionally, working in collaboration can be another benefit of social media. This facilitates collaboration by enabling users to connect with others who share similar interests and goals. Having examined common aims and desires, individuals are able to share their own projects and tasks easily. For example, a group of artists collaborate on an art project by sharing their progress, giving feedback, and coordinating their efforts through platforms. Furthermore, each artist can demonstrate their unique skills and feelings, add fresh ideas, and work together on a common topic.

To sum up, I believe that in spite of losing focus because of social networking, it has its own merits, such as working together in one group on platforms and showing different abilities through TikTok or Instagram.
