It is becoming increasingly common that many students at university face challenges regarding effective time maangement, trying to balance all aspects including social life, studies and work at the same time. While this trend can lead to poor performance and burnout, there are certain solutions for better time handling.
Quite often, when young people move to a different place to attain a higher degree. However, new cities are filled with adolescents with unique mindsets. Majority of these people influence each other and may even compete, trying to ourperform one another for higher social status. What is often observed is that undergraduates who perform exceptionally well spend less time on leasure or do not work at all while this is not the case with those who receive poor grades. Leisure can include pursuing various hobbies, eating out, leading a social media platform just for enjoyment. These activities can take most of the space in young people’s minds, leaving less for serious studies and lessons.
Another negative consequence of this tendency might be seen when such students overdo. Working for longer hours, participating in different projects, taking exams in busy semesters, socializing with many people often drains one’s pysical and mental resources. Rarely do young people consider the long-term effects of this on the body and mind.
However, one of the measures for better time management include focusing on one specific task at a time. With doing so, it would be possible to master the field better. For example, a student might allocate their first year for socializing with others, which tends to benefit them later in their career. While it is reasonable to maintain good grades during sophomore and junior year, interning in senior year in the majoring field may yield higher returns in terms of job placement.
In conclusion, whereas the problems associated with poor time management are mostly manageable with effective distribution of work-life-study.
