Nowadays, in many nations, purchasing food from all over the world in a supermarket becomes a commonplace. Although some think that this trend has a negative impact on local products, this writer believes that it will bring convenience to consumers and help them to save money.

One prime advantage of buying global food in a supermarket is saving time. In other words, were it not for the appearance of supermarkets, people would have to find specialized shops or even travel for a far distance to another country to get the food they want. In contrast, customers can buy these food instantly when they visit supermarkets, which in turn will help them to save a vast amount of time. For instance, most people in Finland recently choose to go to supermarkets at least once a week to purchase their favorite global dishes. As a result, individuals can take advantages of their saved time to join other activities like cooking.

Another positive aspect of supermarkets having food produced from various nations is that it will help people to save their financial budget. That is to say, the governments often put slighter taxes on imported food compared to local one in order to encourage the progress of globalization. This not only help consumers save money if they buy global food in supermarkets but also reduce the monetary aids spent on travelling. Hence, the vital role of supermarkets in bringing international food to local consumers should not be overshadowed.

On the other hand, many think that international food sold in supermarkets has detrimental effects as it may lead to the loss of local dishes. To be more specific, since the time that supermarkets provided food from other countries, residents have been more likely to purchase these products instead of local food. This may resulting in neglecting the value of traditional food even losing them. However, lots of people still consume local dishes frequently as they want to change there taste. In addition, there have been many culinary festivals celebrated annually to promote local food to local residents as well as worldwide nations. Consequently, local dishes still hold a crucial role in national families’ meals.

In conclusion, despite posing a threat to local food products, global dishes sold in supermarket brings many benefits toward local people including saving time and finance. If countries want to balance the impacts of local and international food, suitable actions should be taken.
