In this day and age, the development and expansion of the global economy have brought abundant opportunities and led to rising standards of living throughout the world. It seems everyone’s top priority in modern times is to make money. While some people project themselves as creatures of morals, in the end, these people often prove themselves to be just like their neighbors, pursuing wealth at any and all cost. In my opinion, the old saying was true yesterday as it is true today, “The love of money is the root of all evil.”
To begin with, it has become increasingly easy to accumulate wealth in the modern age, even if you are not educated. For example, many content creators with no formal education have become millionaires overnight simply by recording a video and loading it up to social media, such as YouTube or TikTok. Their videos have gained instant notoriety, despite some videos being considered stupid by the educated elites. Indeed, videos like Skipidi Toilet, where a head pops out of a toilet, are stupid and toxic, as such content does nothing but poison the minds of children with dirty thoughts about people and life in general. While these content creators rake in cash, their audience, namely young people, are being converted into zombies. These so-called influencers have effectively sowed seeds of evil into society because of their love for money.
Moreover, it is becoming evidently clear that a wedge is being driven between today’s young generation, such as Gen Z or Gen Alpha, and the older generations, such as Gen X or the Baby Boomers Generation. That is, the seeds of evil have taken their roots and ultimately will breed more evil, all in the name of making money and accumulating wealth. Young people do not think about the good life like the older generations, who often regard honesty, integrity, and well-intentioned acts as their profound guide to a good life. In short, the older generations believe in treating others as you would want others to treat you. Instead, the young generations are much more selfish, self-centered, and incapable of altruism. The young generation’s definition of the good life is good money, a lot of money.
In conclusion, while a certain amount of money is a prerequisite to survival, many people have crossed the line in the process of accumulating wealth, disregarding the damage that they can do and have been doing to society over the past few years. As the saying goes, you will reap what you have sowed.
