Positive And Negative

Band 6+: more and more people are moving to big cities why do you think this is happening? is this a positive or negative development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, many people decide to move from small villages to big cities. There are many reasons for this situation and I believe it has more negative effects than positive ones.

The main reason why people move to cities is for work. In rural areas, there are not many jobs, usually only farming. However, in big cities, there are many companies and factories, so people can find a job and earn more money easily. Also, education and health services are better in cities. For example, young people want to go to big universities which are located in cities like Istanbul or London.

In my opinion, this development is negative. Firstly, when many people move to the city, it becomes very crowded. This causes traffic problems and pollution. The air in cities is not clean because of many cars and buildings. Secondly, the life in the city is very expensive. People have to pay a lot of money for rent and food, so they become stressed. Also, villages become empty and there is no one to do farming, which is bad for the country’s food.

In conclusion, people move to cities because they want a better life and more job opportunities. But, I think this is a negative trend because cities are getting too crowded and expensive for people to live happily.
