Currently, an increasing number of people are becoming more dependent on the internet to fulfill their work such as hotel booking, banking, and shopping, etc. rather than performing by themselves. Although transactions through the internet may lose human contact, they save a significant amount of time. In my opinion, people can still benefit from online transactions despite some apparent drawbacks they bring.
The greatest benefit of e-transactions is that they save people time, allowing them to take part in social activities that would have been otherwise impossible if they had conducted transactions offline. By conducting transactions in person, people have to leave their homes or workplaces and reach the location by transportation, which requires a huge amount of time. For instance, one of my friends always prefers to conduct his transactions physically. Last Sunday, because he went to the bank to deposit money, he was unable to join our voluntary activities. Therefore, having enough time to build social relationships and communication skills is probably the main advantage of online transactions because they help one grow as a person.
Perhaps the main challenge is that online transactions may lack direct human contact, which can result in people leading isolated lives. Because people do not feel the necessity of going outside and talking to other people, they may be more eager to make their surroundings secluded. For example, during the corona pandemic, I used to conduct transactions via the Internet. That made me feel more likely to disregard congested places and areas occupied by a great deal of people, which actually made me a more introverted person. Often, I felt embarrassed and locked myself in my comfort zone.
Performing everyday tasks and business transactions by means of telecommunications has become incredibly common, while it explicitly causes negative consequences on social communication. This contradicts the main advantage of e-transactions, which is having more time to construct social relationships. As a result, it is this hardship that ultimately makes the experience of telecommunications more advantageous than disadvantageous.
