Band 7+: More and more people in the city live in homes with small spaces or no outdoor areas. Do you think it is a negative or positive development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, accommodation is one of the major concerns of individuals living in urban areas. There have been a growing number of people who prefer to live in small houses without outdoor space recently. From my perspective, it is a negative trend due to its several drawbacks.

Granted, living in a small house can enable people to save their budget. This is suitable for people who face financial hardship or have limited income. Instead of spending on a larger house, people can allocate their money for other purposes, including entertainment, healthcare, and basic needs. Therefore an increasing number of people have decided on purchasing small departments in urban areas recently.

However, it is perceived as a negative development among people in today’s world. This trend can exert a detrimental impact on people’s overall wellbeing. When living in a narrow house without outdoor space, people can feel uncomfortable and stressed due to lacking oxygen. As a result, this living condition can lead to several health related issues, jeopardizing the quality of life. Furthermore, a limited living space can deter social gatherings, badly affecting people’s mental and emotional life. In fact, it will be challenging to throw a party or a feast in a smaller house, which can impede people’s interaction with their loved ones, resulting in a sense of discomfort and inconvenience. Hence, living in limited space can be considered negative due to several detrimental effects on these people’s health and enjoyment.

In conclusion, I firmly believe settling in small houses can be an unfavorable trend. The explanation for this assertion is that this trend can exert several problems, jeopardizing people’s living standard.
