It is true that the majority of people rely on online news sources rather than newspapers and TV. I believe it is a positive development, as it offers more flexibility in finding information and allows people to be aware of the news on time.
On the one hand, people can stay informed in a timely manner if they have accessible Internet connections. This is really convenient because newspapers cannot reach everywhere. Also, televisions aren’t popular these days because digital devices such as phones, laptops, and tablets are easy to take in backpacks and bags; therefore, younger generations prefer to use these devices instead of physical paper. For example, in many developing countries, people don’t read newspapers anymore; they only watch news or read articles on online platforms such as BBC and FOX News.
On the other hand, newspapers and television cannot update news on time because they take time to produce physical papers and television programmes. Therefore, information isn’t updated immediately, which leads people to rely on online websites and news channels such as BBC and CNN, as they provide breaking news on their social media platforms. For instance, during major international events such as elections or natural disasters, newspapers may publish information only the next day, and television news may broadcast updates only in scheduled programmes. As a result, people who depend on traditional media may miss important developments, which can affect their lives’ or limit their awareness of recent events.
In conclusion, while newspapers and television are slower than online news, the ability to access information quickly and easily makes online news a positive development. I believe that relying on online news is better because it helps people stay informed in a timely manner.
