The statement “The most important aim of science should be to improve people’s lives” is an extraordinary statement in my opinion. Science doesn’t limit people on what they want to research about and most of the time those research results improve people’s qualities of life.
There are unlimited possibilities in Science, from Biology to Space technology. Throughout history many scientists discovered various types of achievement. As a result, those discoveries not only revolutionized our knowledge on certain things but, those knowledge also have been adapted to improve our qualities of life. Such as, finding vaccines for Covid 19, Lasik for people with eye issues, and more. These discoveries are parts of science that combine together to create a better life for people.
Many scientists with the likes of Wright Brothers, Galileo, and more start their career with just a single dream with a lot of passion to succeed in their goals. In the past, James Watt–a famous scientist known for his steam engine–life was lonely due to his sickness. As his life progressed he made a friend when he attended school one day and visited his house. While walking there he discovered a man powered machine to pump out water. As a result, it later became an inspiration for Watt to revolutionize the world with his steam engine discoveries. Watt wanted to improve the quality of people’s lives to make jobs more convenient to reduce the people’s workload.
In summary, I completely agree that science’s aim should be to improve people’s lives because we currently live in a world filled with technology and growth. However, there are still flaws in some areas. With the help of science, those problems will be fixed to elevate people’s lives.
