In the recent years, there has been a lot of debate about wether the museums should display works that illustrate the culture of their own country rather than those of someone else. I wholeheartedly believe that concentrating on works of art showing the culture and history of our homecountry can be beneficial in various ways.
Firstly, it would assist individuals in getting to know more about their country’s culture and history. To illustrate, by displaying influential artworks, museums can guarantee that the younger generations can understand how their ancestors lived and how they stood up against obstacles throughout their lives. Moreover, providing individuals with paintings from important events throughout the history of their country, can help them have a clear picture of what exactly was taking place back in those times.
Secondly, it would help return other country’s artworks to their country of origin. For example, vast majority of the objects and artworks available in museums and art galleries across France and England are stolen from ancient Asian and African nations. Moreover, many of those countries including India, Iran, and Egypt are demanding British and French museums to return their stolen properties. By returning these artworks to their place of discovery, we can ensure that people all around the globe can have access to works belonging to themselves.
In conclusion, I personally believe that focusing on artworks belonging to our own country can help us achieve a better world by providing people with further information about their culture and history and assisting other nations in returning their stolen past.
