It has been universally accepted that problem of deforestation is escalating at an alarming rate. This problem is bringing a state of depression among the masses and in economy too. There are plethora of reasons of the same and its possible solutions can be suggested which are discussed as follows.
In regards to the problem, the major reason which can be stated is agribusiness. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, it causes at least 50% of global deforestation mainly for palm oil and soybean production. In support to this reason, a fact known is expanding global markets for rainforest timber and pulpwood. Consequently, in every year we lose around to 10 million hectares of forest and deforestation contributes about 4.8 million tonnes of carbon dioxide.
Seeing the issues with a brighter mind many of solutions can be helpful to curb this menace .One if the solution is reforestation and afforestation. This way of preventing afforest was successful. To cite an example in Brazil individuals have applied this scheme to meet their productivity and limit deforestation .And the total forest areas improved to 500 million square kilometres in 2012. Secondly, reducing palm oil use and reusing paper. If palm oil is boycotted, global demand for an oil is not going to go down. Companies will need an alternative oil source, and this will result in more forest loss to plant these crops.
To conclude, solving a global issue is not easy, but with the joint efforts of the people, control can be taken over the problem with the aforementioned suggested measures. I believe that everyone should come forward to mitigate this problem
