In the modern society, there has been an increasing in the number of famous individuals well-known for the wealth they have; and real success stories have started to be geniunely unpopular. In this essay I’ll explain why I totally agree with this given thesis and its reasons.
Firstly, I believe social media celebrities brought this trend in our culture, which is now entirely affected and shaped by these influencers. Social media platforms have changed over the last 2 years and lately they’re not just a platform to share special occasions but our basic daily lives. Most of the people share even the regular cup of coffee they have in a day. And in such an environment, obviously the rich individuals start the game ahead. They share more expensive or uncommon items, foods, and vacations; and they become celebrities by these sharings.
As a result of numerous unimportant contents floating around the internet, now we are not able to catch the valuable ones. A real success post about the newly published book for instance, never shows up on your page. However you see the tiniest detail of a dinner if it’s shared by a well-known page. Moreover, you can even find these kinds of junk materials on the news. Due to their popularity, real news have become invisible in today’s world.
Therefore, the young generations don’t value the achievements sufficiently and they don’t need them to feel satisfied. Being popular on Instagram or Twitter is enough for the majority of society. And I strongly believe that in the shadow of this effect, our improvement and development speed will be slowed in the next decades.
