Nowadays celebrities are more famous for their glamour and wealth than their achievements, and this sets a bad example to young people. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Last decades have seen a shift in the elements turning one to a famous figure, which traditionally were their success. However, nowadays wealth and charm are perceived to be indispensable factors for becoming famous. This transition can negatively impact the youngsters and I completely agree with the given assertion due to some compelling reasons.
To begin with, becoming famous based on prosperity and attraction rather than true achievements could have ill effect on younger generation for some reasons. Primarily, in today’s world with ever-increasing number of celebrities, they often conceived to be a role model for younger people. Gone are the days when scientists were role model for young people. Consequently, the values they shared with their followers are typically more money-related concepts. This trend can form teenagers’ thoughts and drive them to achieve a money-oriented mindset.
Moreover, as many of current famous figures have not obtained their popularity by their knowledge or skills, it can be thought by those in formative ages that acquiring essential knowledge is unnecessary. This tends to result in potential difficulties later in their lives such as lack of essential knowledge to obtain a job or compete with competence candidates.
To conclude, today’s celebrities are of value due to their wealth and charm rather than their real achievements, which I firmly believe this can have negative effects on youngsters’ mindset and their future success.
