Band 5+: Nowadays, it seems that people tend to waste a great amount of food. Why do you think this is happening? And how can we solve this problem?

In today’s modern, there are many individuals buying a large amount of food which ends up being thrown away. This problem is caused by some factors, and it should be dealt by some effective solutions.

There are several arising issue lead to many people’s tend to waste. One of the main reason, many consumers fail to have a thorough plan of what they are going to buy before shopping. As a. result, they only have vague ideas of what meals or foodstuffs they are going to consumer over the next few days. This often leads them to pile up their shopping carts with colossal amount of products that they might never use. On the other hand, food is more available nowadays at an increasingly cheaper price. This is thanks to advanced technologies in agriculture and transportation, which makes it easier for consumers to purchase a large quantity of food, and waste it without a second thought. Additionally, people’s income levels are increasing with needs many the food therefore buy a lot then throw away.

To address this matter, some solutions that can be done. One effective solution is that people should make a list of ingredients and foodstuffs that they are going to purchase before shopping. This way helps consumers to have time to prepare and decide wisely what products should be bought, which eventually saves a great deal of unnecessary food. Another feasible way is that parents should educate their children about food appreciation at on early age. This can be done, for example, through images or videos of underprivileged children suffering from starvation and poverty in developing countries due to the lack of food. Add to that, we can give food to the orphanage and homeless people. Nutritious meals are essential for daily life, and any excess should be given to those in need.

In conclusion, food wastage is on the rise due to various factors. However, by being mindful of our consumption and taking proactive steps to minimize waste, we can make a difference in reducing food waste and its impact on our resources.
