In the modern world, individuals have access to technology, and many children enjoy playing video games. This essay will firstly discuss how video games can help children solve problems effectively as one of their main advantages, and secondly, excessive screen time as one of their main disadvantages.

One of the principal advantages of playing video games is the problem-solving skills they can provide to youngsters. In other words, children can solve problems more easily in real life, as they do in strategy and puzzle games. A prime example of this is children who regularly play strategy games, as they may learn to think carefully and make quick decisions when solving difficult challenges. As a result, they may make better decisions in real-life situations.

The main disadvantage associated with video games is spending too much time looking at screens. Children may spend several hours playing instead of studying, exercising or sleeping. A good example of this is a child who spends several hours playing video games every day and therefore has less time for homework, outdoor activities and spending time with family. As a result, this can lead to poorer academic performance and less time for healthy activities.

Taking everything into account, the benefits that video games bring to children, such as helping them solve problems effectively in real life, must be weighed against the drawbacks, such as spending too much time playing video games instead of doing beneficial activities for their health and future.
