As digital revolution is heading toward a new pick in the era of emerging Artificial Intelligence, all aspects of human-life in the shadow of digitalized services, are indulging an unprecedented level of automation, aka tremendous speed. People desire for faster and almost instantaneous service seems to be limitless. The root causes and repercussions of this new phenomenon will be analyzed in bellow paragraphs.
It seems our appetite for fastness is getting uncontrollable, a non-stoppable accelerating roller-coaster. We want services, information, and tasks to be delivered and done almost immediately, but why? From sociological and psychological perspective, however, this hunger can be easily debunked and understood. Human being is super intelligent social animal, which adapts to its environment both at individual and social level by creating cultural context. Our non-stoppable hunger for fastness is a natural cultural response and adaptation to the advancements in technological landscape which have facilitated most tasks and processes. In simple words, we have access to technologies and we use them to save most precious commodity, time.
The enormity and scale of the cultural phenomenon that discussed above, raises a legitimate concern, though. Is it really positive? The short answer is it depends. The cultural shift that pushes society toward being extremely fast, pushes economy and triggers growth, which is certainly positive. On the other hand, it creates huge expectations which potentially could lead to social anxiety and other psychological complications and social disorders. Societies needs be vigilant and develop capacities to address such issues.
In the era of digitization, automation, and speed, our hunger for faster service seems to be non-stoppable. The root cause of such social phenomenon lays in natural cultural adaptation, and we expect economical growth in the context. However, negative repercussions of this push for fastness needs to be carefully managed.
