An increasing number of people opt online medium to communicate with others instead of in person. In my opinion, this is a negative development as it leads to many harmful circumstances that cause issues at later stages in life.
One of the most terrible problems that can arise from socializing online is isolation. In older days, before the advent of internet, people would prefer to go out to meet their friends in public places whereas these days they prefer to sit at home alone and chat online. As a consequence, they spend majority of their time in isolation which further leads to depression.
Another issue is that communicating online can be quite risky. As people make fake identities as well hide their true characteristics. For instance, youngsters across the globe create impressing accounts and conceal their original pictures and features, on which parents have no way to monitor their activities and protect them from dangerous situations. Therefore, socializing online can prove to have detrimental effects.
