In recent years, media companies have allocated a substantial amount of money on purpose of broadcasting international news. While some people firmly argue that citizens should be aware of the local news, such as changes in the laws, others strongly contend that international news can appeal humans’ attention, for example sports events. In this essay, I will comprehensively shed light on the merits of both perspectives and explain why I fully agree with the latter view.
On the one hand, there are a number of individuals who strongly believe that newspapers should solely spend and broadcast to local news, emphasizing the importance of alterations in the laws, regulations, and infrastructure. It can be crucial to be aware of the latest news that the authority recently has amended in the constitution or legislation. Furthermore, they should uncover news about crime rate, education, and healthcare that they may be important for residents than international news.
On the other hand, despite a good number of serious considerations of broadcasting local news, there may be a considerable number of merits of broadcasting international news to local individuals. The most significant benefit is that they should raise public awareness about the short and long-term consequences of the global issues, such as climate change, global warming and mismanagement of water. Moreover, sports news can attract public attention, meaning that a great number of people can enjoy watching football matches or Formula 1 races, which these activities can help relieve stress.
In conclusion, whereas local news may be vital for individuals in order to keep well-informed, international news can be equally important. Hence, I totally agree that media should cover news on international stage.
