In recent years, older people do not play sports because they suffer from all kinds of joint pain, and they think that sports do not play a big role in life. This results in obesity and inactivity.
The main reason is that older people think they are too old and are afraid of falling or getting injured while doing sports. In addition, many elderly people suffer from various illnesses. Some of them may have joint or back pain, which makes physical activity difficult. For example, in Uzbekistan, many elderly people cannot move much due to joint pain and prefer to sit most of the time, which can lead to different health problems.
Another reason why older people do not exercise is that they believe sport does not play a significant role in their lives. As a result, they do not understand how important physical activity is for maintaining good health. For instance, in India, despite the large population, many elderly people do not participate in regular exercise
One effect of not exercising is obesity among older people. When elderly individuals do not engage in physical activity, they burn fewer calories and may gain weight over time. Being overweight can cause many other health problems and reduce their overall quality of life. For example, in Uzbekistan many older people become overweight because they spend most of their time sitting at home and rarely do exercise.
Another effect is that older people may lose their independence and become more dependent on others. When their physical condition becomes poor, they may need help from family members even for simple tasks such as shopping, cooking, or going outside. This situation can also negatively affect their mental health and make them feel lonely or depressed. For instance, in Japan many elderly people rely on their relatives or caregivers because they do not have enough physical strength to live independently.
