Band 6+: Nowadays, people in some countries can choose to live and work anywhere they want because of the improvement of the transportation and communication technologies. Discuss the benefits and the drawbacks of the phenomenon.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In the modern world, with the emergence of new technology, the transportation and communication systems improved significantly, which allowed many individuals to not be attached to a certain place. People now can choose where they want to live, and at the same time earn money online. This essay will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this lifestyle.

One evident benefit to having this opportunity to work from anywhere around the world is exploring new places. Almost every person dreams of traveling to new places, however, they are restrained due to their responsibilities in the office. But, the better communication technologies such as Skype, Zoom, many CRM applications, and social networks provide platforms where colleagues can discuss tasks and effectively solve problems online. Additionally, given the enhanced transportation, it does not take much time to relocate from one place to another. And, usually, people can work on the road as well because there is a connection to the internet.

On the other hand, this utopian phenomenon has its negative aspects. First of all, people lack the sense of being a part of the community, which is a great contributor to job satisfaction. It is always nice to discuss work with someone who also understands the context. Secondly, working from anywhere you want also requires you to be consistently online. Having tons of thoughts about a job in the back of your mind, while exploring new places, takes up lots of energy. This might contribute to development of anxiety and fear.

In conclusion, the development of new technology, especially in communication and transportation, opens up new opportunities for people and can provide a flexible lifestyle. However, the possible complications of having this life should also be considered.
