Today, most individuals choose to have children later in their life. There are several reasons behind this trend, and although there are some drawbacks, I believe that the benefits are more inevitable.
Most people decide to delay having children because they want to secure their career and income first. This allows them to feel more prepared and confident before starting a family.
On the one hand, having children at an older age can bring several drawbacks. The main negative aspect is that older parents may lack overall health, especially mothers during pregnancy. Additionally, older parents may have less physical energy to care for their children. For instance, research shows that parents who have a baby after the age of 40 may be more likely to face health complications and increased risks for their child.
On the other hand, in my opinion, the positive aspects of this trend clearly outweigh the negative ones. One of the positive aspects is that parents in a conscious age are often more successful and have a stable income, which allows them to provide better financial support and feel more confident about the future. For example, a survey shows that many women choose to focus on their careers rather than motherhood, despite having a partner with a stable income, as they seek personal achievement and financial independence.
In conclusion, people tend to prefer becoming parents at an older age due to the challenges of contemporary life. Even though people may be likely to face health issues and less energy, I strongly believe that these negative aspects are overshadowed by two main positive effects: individuals become more financially confident, and emotional maturity.
