In recent years, the impact of advertising has diminished for some clients, and I believe the major cause for this decline is probably the huge amounts of scam advertisements which break people’s trust. This, from my perspective, should be seen as a negative development because it is decreasing sales for honest salesmen who are trying to advertise their products.
In the past years, advertising was a common trend and it was so popular for getting more clients and selling products that some agents, who were working in the marketing center, started to advertise products which were not the same as they were telling they were. After those deceptive actions, people were receiving low-quality, even broken products, because they had trusted what they saw. Eventually, after being scammed again and again, customers lost trust in advertisements and so now it has the minimum effect on consumers’ decisions. When people see and hear about some products on television, they do not buy it immediately because they heard that it has some good features; instead, they now trust more in what they see and prefer to make purchases only in person.
This in turn very negatively influences the ingenuous and truthful dealers. Despite the fact that some salesmen get an advantage from selling their products by lying, the honest advertisers can no longer advertise their products, because now people do not have faith in what they see. For this reason, many retailers cannot sell anything because people do not even pay attention, and their sales are decreasing because of that. Thus, this trend represents a detrimental shift, as it undermines trust in the marketplace and harms genuine businesses.
In conclusion, in this unfavorable change, consumers are no longer paying attention to advertisements because they do not trust what they see; the reason for that is that they have been scammed before many times.
