The frequency of coffee shops and fast food vendors that one comes across on high streets and in town centres has increased drastically. One of the reason for this is multiculturism and other is because of the rise in social media. People often watch the reels and videos of foods of different countries and even innovative dishes. This gives rise to curiosity among the audience and makes them want to try it and creates a new economy of fast food chains, cafes and restaurants.
One of the positive effects of this is that people are becoming tolerant of each other’s cultures. Food is a thread for bringing people together, resulting in increase in tolerance among one another. The cafes provide a place for socialising. It has also become convenient to visit the cafes and these eateries for a person who is always on the go and does not have time to prepare breakfast or lunch.
The negative effects are that the society excessively feeding on the food served in these fast food joints. The food available in these places are not necessarily the healthiest in terms of nutrition. On the contrary, the liberal use of oil, sugar etc make it rich in unhealthy fats. The easy accessibility of foods and beverages is an incentive for the folks to not cook food at home and to go to the ambience filled , healthy food lacking places to eat.
Overall, the effects of the large number of coffee shops and fast- food vendors are positive but also harmful.
