Family plays a crucial role in individual life, however, in today’s world, parents and their children do not spend as much time as a family usually does in the past. This situation is caused by many factors and I firmly believe that the disadvantages will outweigh the benefits if this curriculum happens significantly.
Parents rarely have free time with their children due to their demanding jobs, besides, adolescents are busy dealing with their school and maintaining their relationships. It is obvious that in the modern world, while everything is becoming more convenient, it creates pressure on employment, as a result, adults need to work harder in order to afford the family. Furthermore, youths in the education environment face peer pressure, which encourages them to compete with other students, consequently, they put their attendance in extra classes and tutors. These elements prevent families from having time with each other. Take mine, for example, my dad always struggles with his work, as a breadwinner in the family, he found himself working above 12 hours a day, at the same time, although finishing studies at school, I take a drive to the tutors’ classes to enhance my math score. Therefore, we do not talk to each other very much.
As an important role in a person’s childhood, parents are essential to teach and direct their sons and daughters. Cutting a family’s time would lead to some serious consequences such as misunderstanding between two generations, a decline in the family’s values, loneliness in adolescents, and teenagers’ misbehaviors. For instance, when kids feel isolated, they will try out everything to catch up with their fathers’ and mothers’ attention, in case they fail, they choose the other people to play with, who they call ‘friends’. The problem is that not every friend is well-behaved and mature, which causes parents to worry and creates arguments between them.
In summary, the distance between parents and their youngsters is contributed by pressures from various aspects of their daily life, it affects negatively to the family. Thereby, we should put more extra actions that can encourage people to spend more time with each other.
