Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 6+: Nuclear power provides electricity without producing harmful gases. However, natural disasters and accidents affecting nuclear power plants can cause cause great harm to people and the environment. Do the advantages of nuclear power outweigh the disadvantages?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Over the decades, a number of states globally have been rethinking how essential nuclear power can provide amounts of energy from place to place at very low costs, making its potential much more valuable behind the idea that it creates electricity without emitting harmful gases which can be harmful to not only human beings but also the environment. On the other hand, if natural disasters and unexpected accidents occur, nuclear power is sure to be extremely affected. I personally think that the drawbacks of nuclear power can override the advantageous opinions.

There is a diversified variety of advantages of nuclear power in reality. When it comes to the environment, nuclear power is so eco-friendly that it would not be concerned about emitting harmful gases and substances into the air while, in fact, it has been focused on debating over the plan for environmental crisis or climate change to mitigate the ongoing risk of the environment damage around the world in the international institutions such as the United Nations and the European Union Commission. In addition to the safety of nuclear power in the air, it has the potential to curtail the cost of energy prices which is needed in human life; namely, thanks to nuclear power, it can be possibly placed in conventional energy like oil and liquified gases as a result in being stable to energy prices in the world.

That being said, however, the risks of nuclear power cannot be an easy task. One of the greatest issues to be solved regarding installed nuclear power plants is the threat posed by natural disasters such as tsunamis and quicks after happen. In 2011 March, there were unthinkable earthquakes with tsunamis affecting the Fukushima Nuclear Plant No.1, leaking several radioactive materials into the air which caused the residential citizens to potentially bring them back to their homes. It gave a powerful realization that even had been operating under thorough management – while recognizing Japan itself there were possible numbers of earthquakes – could suffer tremendous damage. Additionally, in the case of Chornobyl where there used to be the biggest nuclear plants in the past, they damaged the unpredictably massive human error disasters caused by employees who made wrong decisions; consequently, the natural environment around Chornobyl was devastated, and radical levels have remained high even to this day, as a result that genetically muted and deformed plant and animals have been born on Earth in the worst possible form.

In conclusion, it is ostensibly true that nuclear power plants can generate amounts of electricity in an effective way without emitting much greenhouse gas. However, their disadvantages are more significant due to the prospect of disastrous nuclear power-related accidents and the worst-case scenario radioactive substances created by nuclear plants.
