In a world where news plays a vital role in individuals’ lives, it has a significant influence on people than ever before. While this situation primarily stems from increased accessibility to information, I believe it may pose certain challenges for people in terms of increased debilitating feelings, such as anxiety and stress.
The effect of news on people’s lives can be attributed to a variety of factors. One of them is increased accessibility to information. This is because with ever-increasing advancements in technology, today’s people have the opportunity to get information about current events through the internet or social media, such as Instagram, Telegram, and Facebook, regardless of geographical barriers and financial instabilities. Considering such instant access, it seems logical for individuals to be easily influenced by such social feeds. Gone are the days when people only absorbed news by visiting libraries or paper-based resources, including books and newspapers, as today’s individuals can get information through the internet in a split second.
Nonetheless, in my view, increasing the influence of news presents certain drawbacks for people. The primary downside of this situation is that it can increase anxiety and stress. This is because when people get instant news from social networks and the internet, they are likely to face some debilitating feelings, such as anxiety and stress, as this information often includes some negative or alarming views, including catastrophic weather conditions, global warming, political instabilities, and war, thereby compromising psychological well-being. In a world where many people already suffer from mental disorders, instant exposure to news can make a big difference in terms of the perpetuation of this condition even further.
In conclusion, although the significant impact of news on people is mainly driven by increased accessibility to information, I believe it presents clear disadvantages regarding heightened negative feelings.
