Parents dream to see their children succeed in life. In order to see their dream become reality they impose undue pressure on their kids to see them achieve. This is because of the heightened competition in the society and to get adapted to the ever increasing standards of living. Although it can be benficial in some cases, majorly it has a negative impact on the growing children.
Every person strives to accomplish and become successful in the society. As a result, the level of competition to reach one’s goal will increase. For instance, in India, it has become extremely difficult to secure a government seat for medical school as the competition for it is surreal. Parents who wish to see their children become doctors will pressurize them to study hard and obtain the seat. This will cause undue stress in the kids that will take a toll on their mental health.
Furthermore, living to the increased standards of living will require a successful career. Additionally, this requires persistent and hard work. For example, the price of commodities in India has exponentially risen in the recent years as compared to the previous decade or so. This price hike makes the things unaffordable. This will make parents impose pressure on their children to become accomplished and able to afford a good life.
In conclusion, the unrealistic increase in the competition and standards of living are few of the reasons for the parents putting a lot of pressure on their children to succeed. Although it might help in some way, it definitely has negative effect in the long run.
