In societies today, many families spend their time apart rather than together. As a result their bonds have become fragile. I believe that this is due to social media and online cultures.
To begin, the increasing separation of families as years go by is caused by the increasing popularity of electronic devices and the incorporation of those devices into daily lives. This means that many children, as well as their parents, spend half of their day on their phones. For instance, when a person goes through a unique event in their life their first instinct is to record it on their phone, which takes away from the value of the current moment. Thus, many people have a hard time connecting with those around them and find it easier to connect with others online.
Nevertheless, one of the viable solutions is to encourage participation in activities. In other words, a parent should encourage their children to interact with each other by dedicating a specific weekday for family time. A prominent example is family gatherings where several family members engage with one another, whether it is indoors or outdoors. Eventually, the family itself will find joy in spending time together, resulting in the growth of their relationships.
In conclusion, it can be reiterated that the issue of divided family members is a very common challenge that parents face. But I believe that such a problem can be fixed by providing enjoyable alternatives to electronic devices and sharing interests with one’s children.
