People are considered smarter if they know more than one language. As all people do not poses the same level of skill and intelligence to learn a new language, many people prefer using online language translation apps. In this essay today, I will present the advantages and disadvantages on this controversial topic, with reasons and my opinion in the conclusion.
On the one hand, not everyone has the skill, interest and time to gain the skill of learning a new language. As English is s global language the need of learning a new language is also minimal. This availability of online language translation app is convenient, economic and easy to use worldwide. For instance, if a person has to travel to a country where English is not spoken widely, he need not worry about his communication with the locals which can be overwhelming and stressful. Travelling to new places without knowing the native language can make people hesitant to explore new destinations.
On the other hand, people tend to misplace or break their mobile devices with the minutest of error. Because these language translation apps are on mobile devices , loosing or breaking the device can make people handicapped from communicating with people who are not aware of English despite being a global language. Moreover, the usage of such apps has made man more dependent on devices than before and the demand to learn a new language has also diminished over the years.
Looking at both the advantages and disadvantages, I strongly agree that the benefits outweigh the disadvantages of people using online language translation apps.
