A constant longing for improvement and a habit to compare are ones of the brightest sides of the humans’ nature. I believe it is what established the dilemma whether nowadays lives’ quality has actually enhanced and if it is as better as it is attempted to be portrayed. As far as I am concerned, I admit that today’s conditionals have been significantly improved, yet I do not utterly claim that it is much better than merely two decades ago.
To begin with, the most crucial advantage young generations have been given is an effortless access to almost all information. With the latest modernization, all one needs is a digital device and curiosity to learn. Kids do not know how it is to stand in a queue for the whole day to get a book; they either order it online or just download. What is more, an opportunity to get a proper education and self-expression was gifted to disabled people. As an illustration, an unable to walk themselves individual does not need to endeavor pain daily just to get to school or bookshop anymore, they are able not to just study fully online, but also couch others, sharing their story and being an actual role model.
Furthermore, it was not just science that has been reforming constantly, but also social movements. I cannot neglect how much safer it has gotten for marginalized communities, such as people of color, queer people, and indigenous, that won their rights with blood, sweat, and tears. It would be ill-advised to bellow that it is utterly riskless for them to declare themselves, yet society is evolving and adjusting to amelioration. For instance, gays and lesbians are not a taboo in cinema anymore; there is Beyoncé as one of the most successful singers in history, illustrating a real power of black women.
However, despite all the benefits that humankind has gained, an immense disadvantage concerns the educated part of society. With the Internet and IT science expensing, AI creating, and a horrific anti-intellectualism propaganda, humanity gradually stops thinking on their own. People became progressively lazier stopping wondering and pondering. It is AI that draws books covers, AI that writes essay, AI that choose what to wear, what to cook, and what to do. A complete modernization is destroying the vulnerability of humans’ relations and emotions, causing only more theories about robot conquest.
To sum up, people’s lives are obviously easier and more comfortable than it was just last century, yet indulging in facility may lead to harmful consequences.
