In this modern era, it has been argued that everybody tends to prioritize material property over the improvement of friendships and family ties. In my point of view, it depends on each individual to select their priority.
On the one hand, it is comprehensible that people nowadays spend much of their time contemplating material possessions. As a matter of fact, the world has been progressing through the fourth industrial revolution, which means the increase of human needs is inevitable. People who yearn for a comfortable life devote a significant amount of time to their careers. For instance, they tend to work relentlessly since they believe that it could help to satisfy their demands such as owning a deluxe property or a high-end product. Also, by working hard, they would be able to take good care of their family in the future.
On the other hand, not all people are preoccupied with material possessions. For instance, people of Asian countries are brought up in very close-knit families; hence, they hold the view that developing friendship and family relationships is equally crucial as pursuing their careers. Arguably, intimate relationships are what people need after a long time of being stuck in the monotonous and relentless daily grind. Families and friends are whom people could confide in whenever they have any obstacles or hindrances. Moreover, people could receive unconditional affection as well as strong motivation from those beloved members.
In conclusion, although the world has been more materialistic, I believe that it depends on an individual’s perspective to prioritize material property or friendship and family bond development.
