In today’s digital age, the excessive use of mobile phones by young people has become a growing concern. While some individuals believe that young people use their phones within a reasonable limit, I strongly agree with the view that they spend far too much time on their phones. This is mainly due to the abundance of free time and the lack of proper parental guidance.
One of the primary reasons for this overuse is that many young people have a great deal of unstructured free time. Rather than participating in extracurricular activities such as sports or educational courses, they often resort to using their phones for entertainment. For example, many of my peers who did not enroll in university or join any training programs after high school now spend most of their time scrolling through social media or playing mobile games. This constant exposure can lead to screen addiction and reduced productivity.
Another contributing factor is the lack of parental involvement. In many households, parents are too occupied with work or other responsibilities and fail to monitor or guide their children’s daily routines. Without proper direction, young people are more likely to spend excessive time on their phones simply because no one encourages them to do otherwise. For instance, my uncle works long hours and rarely interacts with his teenage son. As a result, the boy spends almost all day playing games on his smartphone.
In conclusion, although some people may believe that the use of phones among young people is normal, I firmly believe that the time they spend on their devices is excessive. This is primarily due to their free time and the absence of parental guidance, both of which contribute to unhealthy phone habits.
